In Conversation with International Blind and Visually Impaired Photographers

Wednesday 30 June 2021 18:00 — 20:00

Do you need to have sight to take photographs? This question will be explored at this event that brings together blind and visually impaired international photographers: Bruce Hall, Karren Visser, Mickel Smithen, Pete Eckert and Sonia Soberats to present their work and be in conversation with curator Douglas McCulloh of exhibition ‘Sight Unseen: International Photography by Blind Artists’.

The event is accessible to all. The photographs shared in the presentation will be audio-described and there will be a BSL interpreter.

The event is part of ‘Seeing in Isolation’, a new digital project and exhibition from Sandwell based arts organisation, Multistory, and visually impaired photographer, Karren Visser, that shares audio recordings, photographs and digital stories made with, and told by, members of Sandwell Visually Impaired (SVI) that aims to challenge people’s understanding of sight loss.

Please note: you will be sent a Zoom link nearer the time. To find out more about Seeing in Isolation and to see the digital exhibition, click here
