Picnic in the Park

Sunday 10 July 2022 13:00 — 15:00

Multistory and Jaskirt Boora are hosting a picnic in Sandwell Valley Park to launch Jaskirt’s new, large-scale outdoor exhibition and book People, Place and Sport, a celebration of community sports in the West Midlands for the Birmingham 2022 Festival.

It’s a free, family friendly event and you can meet Jaskirt, see the exhibition, buy her book and play family games with Go Play, including Giant Connect 4, Jenga and soft archery.  All we ask is that you bring your picnic with you!

In People, Place and Sport, Jaskirt shines a light on the sporting hubs tucked away in our landscape, away from the large stadia, where grassroots sport takes place on a weekly basis. She asks what sport and the Commonwealth mean to the people of the West Midlands.

For more info on the project visit the People, Place and Sport project page.

Presented by the Birmingham 2022 FestivalPeople, Place and Sport is generously funded by Arts Council England and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Location

The picnic will take place by the People, Place and Sport exhibition which is located on the field in the Sandwell Valley Showground and is accessed via Salter’s Lane, off Dagger Lane, West Bromwich, B71 4BG. Follow the brown heritage signs to Sandwell Valley Country Park. There is a pay and display car park.
