Born in 1973 in Wolverhampton, UK, Anand’s work is based on telling stories of people in communities through photography and film.
Manjit Krumbein (24) has a degree in civil engineering and is looking to make his name in the music world as a rapper. He has just made his first official music video ‘Gold Bars’ and is currently in the production stage of his album. Manjit comes originally from Germany and has been living with his mother and grandparents in Wolverhampton since the age of 7. Manjit raps in a language that is heavily set on the scene of today’s music and youth culture and he also designs his own brand of clothing. His opening line on ‘I’m spitting Gold Bars’ sees him rapping about his image, since he has chosen the stage name of ’24 Karrat’ which is also synonymous with the purity of Indian gold. Manjit’s music is made and produced by a new generation of young Asians who are themselves moving away from traditional lines of music such as Bhangra. Manjit wishes to appeal to a generation that identifies its philosophy with those who want to make their mark on the world without all the ‘gangster and gang’ culture associated with it.
